These three studies of Corel Paint's digital rendering tools show a study in line, tone, and color. I drew the comedian David Cross from a magazine picture. The pencil drawing is a simple line drawing of the picture. The charcoal drawing used a rough canvas with light to dark shades of charcoal, finishing it off with a smudge technique. The paint is mostly a small brush with oil paint treated with a paint thinner.

I chose this picture because he is an artist whom I respect, and I felt it was a bit of a challenge to draw someone with a beard.
